2022 Cleveland Marathon - Monday, May 23rd 2022
My first marathon I was ill prepared... I remember Dave told me to just take a few painkillers throughout the race. Stuffs a blood thinner tho! The longest I ran before this was only the half marathon distance and safe to say I was toasted after that. EBoard came to cheer me on at the end. In classic Winston fashion I skipped my college graduation to run this marathon. If only I had kept the engineering going I could've ran it in the AM and walked across the stage at 1PM... I hit the wall at mile 16 in Ohio City. A lone watcher from his balcony called out to me after I started to walk, limping. I said I couldn't run anymore, he gave me the ultimatum that there is only one way out. I just had to keep going. My glycogen levels were too low, I did not fuel the morning of nor the night before properly. Dave caught me at Edgewater Beach at mile 20. Thank god he was there because that last 10k he brought me home. |

2023 Baystate Half Marathon -- Sunday, October 15th 2023
Huge PR set! This route consisted of running two loops around the Merrimack River on the campus of UMass Lowell. Glad to have returned to my old stomping grounds. Honestly living there for the summer was kind of a joke. I'm definitely in the running for best pictures during a race. HellO!!!!! Kam is an international runner, look at that. The hurdles I had to endure to sign up for this race is incredulous. Italian bureaucracy could not get the best of me. I had to schedule a physical appointment in Trastevere, go to a pharmacy to buy a pee cup, pee in that said pee cup, trek up that god awful hill above the tunnel next to the Vatican, find the hospital to drop off pee cup, and sign up for a Runcard. FORZA FORZA Kam!!! |

Arc'teryx run Boston 10k Trail Run in Blue Hills Reservation -- Sunday, Sept 24th 2023
Fast out the gate! This was my first trail race and I kept towards the front but behind the leaders. I must've gave too much space since me and this one woman got lost halfway through and ended up taking the skyline trail DOWNWARDS?? god that killed my knees. I really thought that I had a shot of winning until we got lost. I think I ended up in 5th place, besides, the top 3 times were way out of reach, no matter how on the path I could have been. This was fun nonetheless! I loved trying out my new running vest with the water pouches. BAA Boston 10k -- Sunday, June 23, 2024
Dunno why I ran this on a busted knee and still managed a good time ahha! Waaaaay too many people at these BAA races too. Note for next time: actually start at the front because a ton of people in the back are there for a reason. No matter how much I love bobbing and weaving through crowds, this experience made me realized that it becomes tedious and taxing. The rain made it very exciting!! I rode my bike to this race.
